New COMSYS report establishes Gilat as global VSAT market share leader

Petah Tikva, Israel, May 15, 2000 - Gilat Satellite Networks Ltd. (NASDAQ: GILTF) today announced the appointment of Bob Givens as President of Gilat Europe. The appointment is Gilat's first step in building a larger European presence and signals the Company's readiness to address Europe's growing IP and Internet-related VSAT opportunities.

Gilat is the world's leading provider of Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) satellite communications networks, according to a report published on May 12 by COMSYS, a UK-based telecommunications consultancy specializing in satellite markets. COMSYS reported that Gilat sold 51 percent of interactive VSATs worldwide in 1999. This marks the fourth consecutive year of market share growth for Gilat, and the first time the Company has achieved the status of global VSAT market share leader.

Gilat acquired Spacenet Services Europe GmbH (Spacenet Europe) from GE Americom in December 1998. Gilat today announced all Spacenet Europe and Gilat operations in Europe are now known as Gilat Europe.

Prior to joining Gilat Europe, Givens served as Executive Vice President and General Manager Europe of Global One, a leading worldwide distributor of telecommunications services. Givens is a 20-year veteran of the high technology and telecommunications industries.

"With his experience in leading pan-European teams and his in-depth knowledge of the European telecommunications market, Bob is uniquely qualified to implement Gilat Europe's growth strategy," said Amiram Levinberg, President and Chief Operating Officer of Gilat Satellite Networks Ltd.

Levinberg added, "Bob will help ensure Gilat Europe continues its focus on enterprise networking applications, while assuming a leadership position with Web-related initiatives such as Network-Dependent Businesses and consumer Internet - both of which are targeted for the European VSAT market." Givens is based in Gilat Europe's Paris office. Gilat Europe's Network Operations Center is based in Stuttgart, Germany and its sales and marketing operations are based near London. Gilat Europe also has offices in Italy, the Netherlands, and the Czech Republic.
